THE EAGLE-GAZETTE 19 April 8, 1970 disUnguishable from others. Asjde from their elegantly distinctive contours, some of the new bottles sport embossed designs representing the brewer's coat-of-arms or corporate symbol. These range from shields. Last Cincinnati Burlesque Spot To Fall Victim to Wrecking Ball anchors and sailing ships to knights in medieval armor, molded indelibly into the glass. NEW BEER BOTTLES HAVE 'ARTY' LOOK NEW YORK (AP) Better take a second look at that empty beer bottle before you put it in the refuse.

It might become a collector's item a few years from now. Many of today's glass beer kitties "customized" to identify a particular brand are gracefully sculptured in the manner of hand-blown glass vessels made by 17th-century craftsmen, the Glass Container Manufacturers Institute points out. The current proliferation of individualized bottle styles stems from the desire of brewers to make their brand readily LEARN BARBERING MEN and WOMEN ENROLL NOW! Virginia blames a lot of declining attendance on the move of people to the suburbs which keeps them out of the downtown district. The movies and television also are blamed. But, he added "burlesque isn't dead.

Television's took it up, that's all. It's the same stuff." Reminiscing, he added: "The heighth of burlesque? I guess it came in 1925 or 1926. Tney had beautiful shows then with 30 to 40 people, seven nights a week and some of them made $500 a week." (Note from the reporter: Yep, I enjoyed them as a college student in Indianapolis). Joe Snyder, 64 years old and a long time comedian, said "it's just like taking away a little of what you've done in this world." More than half of the estimated six million flamingos in the world live on the alkaline lakes or the Great Rirt Valley in Africa. nut that dank and damp odor in The Gayety.

Years after the Rose La Rose era, the chorus line disappeared and the show amounted only to the strippers and the comedians. Canned music was used rather than an orchestra. But the show still went on. The current regular main attraction is Ruby Rage, a 22 -year-old girl with a two-year -old daughter. The dancer is happily married and she never goes out ith strangers.

She has a 44-inch bosom. Asked about remarks often made from the audience, she says, "you just have to be a lady and ignore them. It's all part of the job." Joe Virginia, the manager The Gayety, is taking its demise in stride. He thinks he'll be open up again at some other site. Many Headaches "I hate to see the old theater go," he said.

"But it's been a lot of headaches." Burbering it a trod hot offer good pay, curjty end indrptndenet. CINCINNATI (AP) The walls will come tumbling down very shortly on burlesque in Cincinnati. The Gayety once called The Empress is to be torn down and the ground will be converted into a parking lot. No longer will the comedians tell their sometime good and sometime off-color jokes. It is Cincinnati's last burlesque house.

Stars Trod Stage Once upon a time, The Empress or The Gayety had performers who later became among the greatest in show business. Weber and Fields, Sophie Tucker, Red Skelton. Gypsy Rose Lee, Joe Penner, Pinkv Lee and others performed there. Then came the era of Rose La Rose and The Gayety always did a good business when she was on the bill. The Gayety now is a run -down building on Vine Street between Eighth and Ninth.

Ironically, the building with its strippers and jokesters is just across an alley from Cincinnati's fancy city-county library. Despite it's rundown appearance and dank odor. The Gayety will bow out in a blaze of glory. Farwell Party Set The "Minsky's Burlesque of '70" is being brought in here from Las Vegas, for performances at the Shubert thea ter on April 10 and 11. It will be a black tie progressive farewell party.

After the show at the Subert, those in attendance will go to The Gayety for a lunch and farewell party. And again there is an ironic touch. The profits from the Min-sky show will go to station WCET which is an educational television station. The Gayety should have had it S3 good in its lush days. For the Minsky show, "Stripper" section tickets will sell for $10.

Those in the "Exotic" section will be $15. In the "Second Banana Section" it will cost $20 and in the "Top Banana" section it will cost $25. Perfume even is to' be provided to help wipe CALL COLLECT: 614224-1421 G. I. APPROVED Andrew-Columbus Barber College 245 S.
