If Mrs.Angelo Winter, nee Marller, daughter oE Jule Marlier of West lain street, after long, anxious months' of waiting, a few days- ago, was made exceedingly happy by the receipt of a letter from her husband, a Belgian soldier, who was taken prisoner before his wife and children oame to this country, five months ago. Mrs. Willier had written her husband who was a prisoner at Chatelet, but she. had looked in vain for an answer up until Wednesday when the anxiously expected letter arrived. It had on the way over five weeks and the envelope showed that it had passed through three sets of censors' hands, the Germans, the Holland and the English before it crossed tho ocean, Her usband writes that in his war can't last much longer.

He says the prisoners are not in stockades, exposed to the elements, but are confined in buildings and are' not; required to do any work. Food is very scare in Belgium and the ship loads of food, clothing, that hsrve arrived there from America, he says are certainly Godsends to the people. He Bays although these donations are sent to the Belgians, the German prisoners have also received large supplies of it. He inquires after the health of his wifej and little daughter, and of the little girl, a daughter of a neighbor whose wife had died and the father called to the war, leaving their child in care of Mrs. Willier who brought her here.

He is glad to know they are out of that war cursed country and are being so kindly cared for in her father's comfortable homty'in Lancaster. The two littlo girls, not yet old enough to realize the terribleness of war, are growing and doing fine tiere in St. (Mary's parochial school, and are happy in the love of Mrs. Willier andthelr grandparents, Mr? and rs. Jutes -M a rlierr Angelo Wiilier, the Belgian "prisoner, is a fine musician, educated as a vlollflist Conservatory of MubIc, Beiglum, and a teacher of the violin of rare accomplishments.

Mrs.vWillier also plays the violin and Is 'a vocalist with a well trained soprano voice. On account of the delay In hearing from her husband, Mrs. Willier feared that he must have been killed end the v.orry and grief preyed upon her mind continually until the great load was lifted by the receipt of his letter, the sweetest message uhe ever received. VanDyke, and Carrie B. VanDyke against Clement V. Baker, treasurer of Fairfield coun ty: The petition states that the ques tions Involved In this case are of general interest to many persons and It being Impractical to bring all before the court this action is brought on behalf of the plaintiffs aud all other persons interested as a test case. The Walnut township quadrcnlal appraiser placed awaluation on said land of $4,210, between January, 1910 and July 1, 1910. its true value in money. Plaintiffs say they tendered to the defendant, as treasurer of the coun ty legally charged against their prop erty but he refused to accept the same without the assessments made against said gaa well and charged under the mineral values, and threat ened to return the land as delinquent and to advertise the same and sell It at delinquent sale, and to release said lands they paid In all the sum of $23.30, and they aver that the act of the general assembly referred to above Is unconstitutional and void They pray that they may be glv en judgment against the defendant for the sum of $23.30 with Interest from date of Van A.
